What:
Helt Voksen is a startup aimed at supporting young adults in navigating the challenges of adulthood, starting with affordable digital cohabitation agreements. Launched in summer 2023, the project is a collaboration between a designer (me), a developer, a law student, and a startup expert. Our initial goal is to help young people secure their rights through flexible and adaptable cohabitation agreements that can be easily updated as life circumstances change. These agreements can be stored digitally for convenience. Recognizing that society and cohabitation are evolving, we are also designing agreements that accommodate more than two people, reflecting the growing diversity and openness in relationships. Through platforms like TikTok, we share practical tips to engage young users, preparing them for the app’s launch. Our most popular video, on how to do laundry, has gained over 200,000 views, and we have over 5,000 followers.
How:
This semester, I’ve continued developing the app while focusing on market research and gathering insights that were previously overlooked. I’ve explored key issues such as the evolving relationship between cohabitation and marriage, how to create a seamless and secure cohabitation agreement process, and how to shift the negative perception of cohabitation agreements from distrust to a more positive, trust-building experience, similar to engagement. Additionally, I’ve examined how inclusive language can make the agreements more welcoming and motivating. Using design tools like surveys, interviews, literature reviews, personas, scenarios, stakeholder mapping, and frequent user testing, I’ve iterated on the app’s development while refining the project’s branding, online presence, and user experience.
